These handcrafted intricate filigree earrings are replicas of traditional earrings specific to Oaxaca and principally the Tlacolula Valley. The traditional garb of this region consistsof heavily embroidered garments accessorized with large amounts of gold jewelry....often goldfiligreeearrings like these! Frida Kahlo, the famous Mexican painter, was my inspiration for going to Oaxaca. Duringher lifetime sheadopted the traditional Tehuana attireas a means of showing hersolidarity with the strong women of thismatriarchalZapotecsociety. These are brilliant in every respect.
